The Power of Prayer

My father has been battling liver disease since February. It's been a rough ride for my entire family, least of all my courageous, amazing, beautiful father.

Yesterday he was ushered into a hospital room after poor results came back from the previous day's blood work. The attending doctor told him his liver is unresponsive. His specialist arrived a bit later and advised us that his liver is failing. When asked his level of pain on a scale of 1-10, he told them "10". A dosage of morphine was provided and an hour later the pain level had not changed for him.
No one wants to see anyone in pain.... but to see a parent?.... well it's unbearable.
Our family believes quite strongly in the power of prayer so I thank all family and friends who have included my dad in your daily and weekly prayers. It is important now than ever....
That he not be in pain
That my mother stay healthy. She is so strong and I pray for her continued strength
My mother really is amazing to see in action. The way she tends to his needs, the way she lovingly and cheerfully prepares his special means and how she refuses to eat anything other than his restricted diet.

Our hope is that he comes home this week which is both good and bad; bad in that it means there is nothing they can do for him. We have asked God if we might be blessed with him through the holidays.

Your prayers and love are appreciated beyond measure.

Hey,this is Melanie,Diana's daughter. I hope everything is okay with my tio.I know that he'll get through all this pain, because he has a good spirit. Can you just let him know that he was always in my heart and i miss him very much. He was always in my thoughts and looking at those pictures when me and my sister went to California were the best memories. Going to his house and playing with his different toys was the best, and also playing with his cute cat. I miss my tio very much and he'll always be in my prayers.

Love, Melanie

Uncle Phil, When I was 14 or 15 you let me sit in the drivers seat of your powder blue volkswagon and you told me to never look directly in front of me. You said "Always look at the big picture." Uncle Phil, I have always remembered that in my life. Its crazy the things we pick up and keep with us. Thank you, my prayers are with you. You and aunt Phelia were always an energy of love.

So I've been thinking of your family alot lately... Kathy, do you remember whenever I'd babysit you, I'd stay on the phone with cousin Janet. You were the funniest child. You'd do anything to get my attention and get me off the phone. You'd make faces, dress in something funny, or fart! we'd laugh!! LOL You were the most adorable child. Your dad is proud, I'm sure. I read the blog as often as I can, its brought me close to you and your family. Its a beautiful thing. Some of the pics you're posting are familiar. Like that chair your dad is sitting in. I remember that chair! Ha! I say a prayer for Uncle Phil every day. I love you guys.

To My familia.
God's blessings on this difficult time. Our uncle phil was a the type of person that you just wanted to be around, it didn't matter who you were or where you came from he alway had that big smile that welcomed you in to his heart. My uncle & Aunt always thought I was funny & the best P.R. cook, I alway dreamed of such a relationship, so loving so caring alway laughing. I still never found out who the boss was..(a toss up. If my uncle would say it he was & if my aunt would say it she was)So Loving so caring so talented... I've missed you all since you moved.. Love, Prayers always
